Suresh Arora is new Punjab DGP

Chandigarh : A 1982-batch IPS officer Suresh Arora was on Thursday evening appointed the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab. He will replace the incumbent DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, who has proceeded on leave from April 4 till May 20.
An order to this effect was issued by the ECI following a proposal sent by Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh. “The Commission has considered the proposal and has approved the name of Suresh Arora for being posted as DGP, Punjab, during the leave period of Sumedh,” ECI Principal Secretary Shangara Ram said in a communique to Chief Secretary.
Arora has been heading the Vigilance Bureau since March 2012. Besides Arora, two other IPS officers – G D Pandey (1981) and Sanjiv Gupta (1982) – were in the panel sent to the ECI.
