Not given benefits, PCMS docs to protest

Amritsar : The PCMS Specialist Doctors Association has announced to initiate an agitation against the state government in favour of their demand for higher qualification and other allowances.
The association has announced that all specialist doctors would wear black badges as a mark of protest from April 15 onwards.
The association has also announced to hold two-hour pen down strike on April 22, 25 and 28. “If the government failed to act we will enforce a complete shutdown after May 1,” said Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal, association president.
Sohal said the doctors who had acquired postgraduation degrees before May 23, 2001 were denied the benefit of higher qualification allowance at the rate of 15% of the basic pay.
He alleged most specialists were getting pay equal to non-specialist doctors.
