Badal may face Congress gherao during visit

NANGAL: Congress has given a warning to gherao Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal during his Nangal visit on February 12, if the foundation stone of the civil hospital, Nangal, laid by former state chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh was not restored immediately.

While talking to mediapersons here on Monday, former Nangal member legislative assembly (MLA), Rana KP Singh said that due to his efforts ,the foundation stone of the civil hospital at Nangal was laid by then Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh in 2006 and construction work on the hospital had begun.

However, due to the change in government, the construction work remained stalled for six years.

He said that on a question raised by him in the Punjab assembly, then health minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla had stated that there was no need of hospital at Nangal.

Rana said that in 2013, local MLA and Punjab minister Madan Mohan Mittal got the construction work of the hospital resumed with the funds of the Nangal municipal council.

He alleged that the foundation stone laid by Amarinder Singh was removed and Mittal laid his own foundation stone for the hospital.

He said that it was unethical on the part of the government to get the foundation stone removed and rela, taking credit for the work. 

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal is scheduled to inaugurate the hospital on February 12.

Rana said that chief minister has no right to inaugurate the hospital, which was constructed with the money of municipal council and not the state government.
