NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH BUREAUCRATS DURING MY DAYS AS CM, SAYS AMARINDER
CHANDIGARH: A day after chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said corrupt bureaucrats were bringing bad name to the state, former CM Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday advised him to “set own house in order instead of finding faults with the officers”.
“If during five terms as CM, you could not learn the art of working with bureaucrats, then you don’t deserve to be chief minister,” the Congress leader told Badal, pointing out that the CM was head of the government of which bureaucracy was a part, and his office was where the buck stopped.
“During my tenure as CM from 2002 to 2007, I never had a problem with any bureaucrat. Unlike you, I delegated them the authority they deserved. I trusted them and they delivered eventually; and if you had done the same, you would not be a poor workman trying to blame his tools,” Amarinder told the CM.
In a separate statement, Punjab Congress spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira dared the CM to name the “corrupt bureaucrats” and take action against them.
