Jakhar urges state govt to honour CWG winners

Ferozepur: While appreciating the contribution of the winner of the 20th Common Wealth Games, the leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar urged the state government to acknowledge the achievements of the sports person, who brought laurels to the state and the country.
He said that the state government should highlight their achievements by honouring them with open heart and arms. He also recommended the state government to give reward in the form of cash money Rs 1 crore for the Gold Medalist, Rs 50 lakh for the silver medalist and Rs 25 lakh for bronze medalist.
He said that I strongly urged to the state government to follow the suite and announce matching cash awards belonging to the Punjab, which will not only recognize their toil and talent, but will also inspire other young boys to seriously take up sports and make career out of it.
He said that the state government has promoted Kabbadi by organising international matches in Punjab and now they should also have balanced approach towards the other sports. He said that we need young boys and girls to display their talent in each sport for which they have potential and taste.
