BATHINDA: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday ridiculed chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for seeking votes in lieu of development grants announced by him during the nine days he spent in the constituency along with his aides just before the announcement of the bypolls.
The Punjab Congress chief said, “Development is the responsibility of the government. Badal must tell the people what is the primary duty of the government. Have the people elected the Akali Dal to power so that the ruling party leaders can make money through corruption, or serve them?”
“The people of Talwandi Sabo should punish the SAD for criminal neglect of the constituency, as development grants are not any favour but a right of the people and the responsibility of the government,” Bajwa’s statement issued here said, quoting from his address at election meetings at election meetings at Gurusar Jagga, Behman Jagga and other villages of the constituency.
The Congress leader called upon the people to question Badal as well their MP, Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, “for their total apathy towards this constituency which was being represented by a Congress MLA [Jeet Mohinder Sidhu] earlier who turned deserter”.
