Jalandhar : The Punjab Colleges Non-Teaching Employees Union on Wednesday held a district level protest and criticised the state government for not issuing notification to release arrears of the employees.

Non-teaching staff members of Private Aided Colleges of Jalandhar gathered under the banner of Punjab Colleges Non-Teaching Employees and said that the state government has assured to release the arrears, but a month has passed and no notification was issued till date.

State president of the union Madan Lal Khullar said that during an official meeting held with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on September 24, the CM had ordered the Principal Secretary Finance and Higher Education, Punjab to release the arrears of January 1, 2006. “A notification of December 1, 2011 enhanced House Rent and Medical Allowances was also assured to be released within a week, but one month has been passed and no notification was released by the government,” he said.

Khullar said that the attitude of the Higher Education and Finance Department of the Punjab government was very shameful, as they did not bother to implement the orders of CM Badal.

District president Jasbir Singh addressed the gathering and said that the state government has not given pay parity to the non-teaching employees of aided colleges of the state since the year 1978. “The state government has maintained a partial stand while releasing emoluments to the non-teaching staff of the aided colleges,” he added.
