CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has asked the chief electoral office, Punjab, to produce the record pertaining to the voter card of Punjab cabinet minister Anil Joshi.

While adjourning the case for March 16, the bench of justice AK Mittal and justice Sneh Prashar, in a verbal order on Thursday, told the counsel of the state electoral office to produce the electoral card record of 2005-06 of Amritsar West assembly constituency.

Earlier this month, the petitioner, Vaneet Mahajan, had filed an application seeking directions from the court to the electoral office to submit the original record on Joshi’s electoral card.

Joshi was found to be voter in the electoral rolls of 2006-08 at more than one place, including Amritsar West, for which the trial in the case is going on. In 2012, he got elected from Amritsar North. The petitionerlawyer has alleged that the electoral records of Amritsar North and Amritsar West be placed before the high court, further arguing that the ‘bogus vote’ found in the 2006 electoral rolls was carried forward to 2012, on which he fought from Amritsar North and got elected, thus he be disqualified as an MLA.
