Chandigarh: The newly appointed Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi for reposing their faith in him to lead the party in the state. He expressed confidence that he would come to their expectations along with those of the people, party workers and leaders across the state as all of them saw hope in the Congress. He said that he would take everybody along and the Congress will fight the elections with complete unity and full strength.

In a special message to the youth in particular, Capt Amarinder promised to usher in a new era of hope and prosperity. Punjab Congress president said that his top most priority would be to restore the faith and confidence of people in the political leadership as the Akali-BJP alliance has badly failed them. “Youth are disillusioned and a number of them are falling prey to the drugs, the farmers are committing suicide while the industry is shutting down or moving out,” he pointed out. Capt Amarinder reiterated that the entire rank and file of the party was united in Punjab.
