KHADOOR SAHIB: Former Khadoor Sahib MLA and Cong ress leader Ramanjit Singh Sikki, who resigned from the post to protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Baath village, has stated that he knew Khadoor Sahib people very well and they would give “spontaneous response” to the Congress’ call of boycotting the bypoll.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sikki said the SAD-BJP government disappointed the people by not taking any action against the guilty of sacrilege of holy ‘birs’ of Guru Granth Sahib, which took place across the state.

“Not a single culprit of the desecration has been traced so far by the state government which is quite shameful for it. The people carry deep resentment against the ruling party and they will surely boycott the bypoll which is slated for February 13,” he said.

He said, “Although, the people will give spontaneous response to the Congress’ decision, still the Congress workers belong to the Khadoor Sahib assembly segment are personally convincing them not to take part in electoral process as the government involves in the conspiracy in materialising sacrilege incidents.”

It is notable that after returning from the annual one- month sewa at the Golden Temple, Sikki conducted a meeting of party workers on a large scale at his residence at Rashiana village falling in the constituency on February 1.

He was accompanied by his political mentor and Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh and several other local Congress leaders also.

During the meeting, Sikki asked his supporters within the party to ensure complete boycott of the bypoll.
