Mohali – “The launching of pre-primary classes in the government schools throughout the length and breadth of state is a landmark achievement of the state government which under the exemplary leader – ship of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh stands committed to strengthen the educational infrastructure as education is the very foundation on which a strong edifice for the future is built.” This was disclosed here on Monday at the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) auditorium by Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary on the occasion of the culmination of month-long “Mashal March” (march with the ceremonial torch).

Illegal sand mining noticed by Capt. during his visit to Kartarpur . During the visit to Kartarpur Sahib Punjab CM Capt.Amarinder Singh saw some JCB machines evidently engaged in illegal mining on the Sutlej banks in Phillaur (Jalandhar) & Rahon (Nawanshahr). Captain immediate ordered for the investigation in illegal sand minning to DCs and SSPs and to seize the equipment.

Phillaur : Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said the international airport in Mohali must be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a national hero. Haryana should have no objection since Bhagat Singh laid his life for the nation, not just for Punjab, he said, while speaking on the sidelines of the passing-out parade at the Punjab Police Academy here.

PHILLAUR (JALANDHAR): Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday underlined that “Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh is a national martyr, and nobody should have objections over naming the Chandigarh airport after him”. The statement came a day after Manohar Lal Khattar, chief minister of the airport’s partner state Haryana, reportedly disagreed with the idea.

Phillaur – Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced an annual grant of Rs two crore for advanced training of police personnel of all ranks in the state to empower them to meet challenges of modern policing. Addressing a batch of new recruits of 18 deputy SPs and 494 SIs, the largest group of directly recruited officials in these ranks, at the police academy here, Singh expressed pleasure on seeing a large number of women, 196 in all, among the probationers.
