Chandigarh : In an apparent move to placate colleagues in the Punjab Congress who have not found a place in the state Cabinet, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is set to appoint one Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) and 20 Parliamentary Secretaries through the ordinance route.

CHANDIGARH: Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh will embark on a three-day visit to Mumbai on April 10 to attract private entrepreneurs to Punjab. Capt will hold “one-on-one interactions” with captains of industry during his stay there. “He will meet bigwigs of about a dozen industrial groups which are keen on exploring investment opportunities in the state. Then, meetings with some other business leaders are also being lined up,” said sources.
‘Halqa’ system back in state government?

CHANDIGARH : The Congress government in Punjab claims to have scrapped the ‘halqa (constituency) in-charge’ system adopted by its preceding SAD-BJP regime, but not much seems to have changed. The 77 MLAs and all 30 losing candidates of the ruling party have been asked for their preferred officers for posting as sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) in their constituencies.
