CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday appointed senior Congress leader Amarjit Singh Samra as chairman of the Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (Markfed) with immediate effect, said a CM office spokesperson. Samra had earlier served as revenue and rehabilitation minister in the Capt government from 2002-07.

Chandigarh : Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ordered re-verification of the list of Blue Card beneficiaries of Atta-Dal scheme to make it more targeted and comprehensive, while directing it to be linked with Aadhar card. The list will also include families of farmers who had committed suicide and landless labourers.

Chandigarh : The Punjab government is working towards a law to regularise illegal colonies and transfer ownership rights to the occupants. The Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday directed that a committee headed by the state chief secretary be set up to formulate legislation for regularising illegal colonies and transfer of ownership rights to the occupants, an official spokesperson said.

Chandigarh : All power consumers in Punjab — industrial, domestic and commercial — will get power at Rs 5 per unit. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has made it clear that no category of consumers will have to pay more than Rs 5 per unit as tariff.
