AMRITSAR: People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Singh Badal has demanded the setting up of a Special Investigating Team (SIT) under the supervision of the Punjab and Haryana high court to probe into “misuse of the government machinery for amassing wealth by selected ruling families of Punjab”.

Amritsar: People’s Party of Punjab president Manpreet Badal has sought the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the Punjab’s transport policy and the people benefiting from it. He said: “The SIT should investigate why the luxury buses costing around Rs1.5 crore each are exempted from paying taxes while ordinary buses costing around Rs15 lakh are made to pay. It should also investigate how the permits are allotted and if certain people were favoured while allotting bus permits.”
