Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress today claimed Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal had exposed the Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD's) "double standards" on the issue of FDI in retail by opposing it at the national level in conjunction with the BJP but "encouraging" it in Punjab by inaugurating a Metro Cash and Carry store in Amritsar.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab hopes to raise Rs 350 crore during 2013-14 by way of property tax in the state as against Rs 200 crore expected to be collected during the current financial year. Last year, the state government managed to raise only about Rs 198 crore through property tax.

Chandigarh: The main opposition Congress on Monday sought CBI probe into the registration of fake police case at Khalra police station in Tarn Taran. “Mere dismissal of guilty cops and registration of FIR against them will not expose the entire nexus. Chief Minister should instead refer the investigation to the CBI to unearth the real truth, as it’s likely that some influential political people are behind the sinister game plan,” the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Sunil Jakhar said.
