New York : A Sikh taxi driver in New York has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a women passenger three years ago, a media report said. Gurmeet Singh (42) was sentenced after the victim, who took the stand against him, described feeling triumphant, but still traumatised, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

Hisar : Dr Satya Vrat Sharma, a resident of Hisar , also an alumni of Medical College, Rohtak, has been appointed Deputy Lieutenant for West Midlands County of United Kingdom. His name for this prestigious appointment was approved by the queen of England. A gazette notification in this regard was issued on April 29, 2014. As many as six persons of Wolverhampton have been given the title of Deputy Lieutenant. Dr Sharma is the only one from ethnic minorities. The appointment is up to the age of 75 years.
