A group of businessmen, including some NRIs, were also part of the 18-member American congressional delegation that met Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. NRI businessman Salabh Kumar, a member of “Overseas Friends of BJP”, said he expected Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in as early as June. Mr Kumar was instrumental in arranging the delegation’s visit to India.

Wife, son of ex-NRI body chief charged with rape, criminal intimidation

The wife and son of a former district NRI sabha president have been charged with gangrape, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation. A sessions court on Monday framed the charges against Surinder Kaur, wife of the ex-NRI sabha chief, Amarjit Singh Virk and their son, Gurjeet Singh. Virk is already facing trial in the case after similar charges were slapped on him on January 10.
