UNITED SIKHS would like to extend an invitation to community members to attend two events in coming weeks: the Sikh International Film Festival on October 8, 14 and 15, 2011 and a Sikh Leadership Event on October 13, 2011. An Andhra Pradesh based NRI, Srinivas Alluri, on a bicycle world tour, reached Ludhiana on Tuesday and will proceed for Srinagar on Wednesday. Alluri is the founder of the voluntary and charitable organisation, Manavata. The cyclist says he used to pedal to stay fit before deciding to promote peace and the eco-friendly mode of transport. “I thought it was ideal to promote peace through cycling,” he says.
