CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday g ranted anticipatory bail to two Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers who were allegedly involved in attack on Raja Joshi, brother of Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi, in Tarn Taran in February.

MUKTSAR: A large number of Congress workers from Muktsar, led by Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring staged a day-long protest on Monday in front of the police station at Kot Bhai, under Gidderbaha constituency, alleging that the police have been booking Congress workers allegedly under political pressure under the SC/ST Act besides other sections of the IPC. About 14 people have been booked from Madhir village, 8 kms from Gidderbaha during the past three years in four cases, allegedly misusing the Act.

PATTI (TARN TARAN): Led by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Harminder Singh Gill, Congress workers staged a dharna outside the office of the Patti deputy superintendent of police (DSP) on Friday, demanding withdrawal of “fabricated” criminal cases registered against party activists at the behest of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
