CHANDIGARH : Apparently in order to break the impasse over Power Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s refusal to join his duties, the government has started sending conciliatory signals to him. Now the onus is on Sidhu to respond to the messages. At the same time, the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has started looking after the power department himself.

Chandigarh : Rejecting as totally inadequate the new proposed 60:40 fund-sharing pattern of the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry for the SC Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has demanded restoration of the old sharing scheme, under which states had to finance about 10% only.

AMRITSAR:A day after Punjab cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa wrote a letter to Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh accusing the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Gobind Singh Longowal of “politicising” the celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the acting jathedar on Monday said he has written to the SGPC to “remove all kinds of doubts”.

Chandigarh : Rebel Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is reported to be perfoming ‘akhand tapasya’ in the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi for last few days. It is learnt that Sidhu was seen by a number of other devotees performing the ‘tapasya’.
