BATHINDA: After visiting the family of a farmer who committed suicide in Jaga Ram Tirath village in Bathinda, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Charanjeet Singh Channi on Thursday said the ` 3 lakh compensation was driving farmers to take the extreme step.

CHANDIGARH: Accusing the managing committee of trying to grab the land of Khalsa College by establishing a private university, Congress leader Lally Majithia on Wednesday threatened to hold demonstrations and start a signature campaign if the managing committee did not refrain from the move. Addressing mediapersons, Majithia said the matter would be taken to court, if need be.
