Chandigarh : Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday assured the state farmers that the Congress would continue to espouse their cause forcefully. Demanded a package to the debt ridden farmers of Punjab as it was given by UPA government. Bajwa also demanded a crop insurance cover for the farmers who should be covered for the loss of their produce under any natural calamity or manual foul play. He said Chief minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal lacked guts to forcefully take up farmers issues with his own government.

Chandigarh : Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh has asked the government to provide adequate compensation to the Basmati growers who have been forced to go for distress sale. He said, if the government did not announce sufficient compensation for the Basmati growers, he will be leading mass protests across the state.
