Businessman
Jassi has been a businessman since his days at Oxford University where along with his studies he entered the property business. From there he progressed in that line and software and is well known for building Punjab’s first 5 star hotel in the 1990s in Ludhiana, Hotel Park Plaza.
Jassi is now probably best known for his enormous social entrepreneurship project Macro Dairy Ventures Pvt Ltd or MDVL. The project is well regarded in the dairy industry in India and overseas for being a “cow only” project that provides Community Dairy Infrastructure in tandem with social change and rural upliftment. Jassi said “my goal was to develop a scaleable, replicable project that would enable the local community to be involved in large numbers, and therefore gain income from it. This has definitely been achieved and continues to expand with every new Community Dairy Unit in a village where women entrepreneurs keep their pedigree cows.
The project combines state of the art processing facilities with pedigree cows and one of India’s leading breeding programs. He says “through improving the quality of our pedigree cows women entrepreneurs will earn more from their animals in the years to come. As has been proven by governments and NGOs worldwide, empowering women is the best way to bring about lasting and positive social change for the current and next generations.”
