CM orders Power Dept to bear Rs 748 cr industrial power subsidy

Chandigarh – Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday issued formal orders to the Department of Power to bear the RS 748 crore power subsidy for the industry for 2017– 18, with variable cost to be fixed at Rs 5 per unit. Following the orders, the Deputy Secretary, Power, has written to Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), intimating the government’s decision to bear the said subsidy. As per the letter, the state government shall bear 50 per cent financial implication of the increased tariff retrospectively, from April to October last year, for Medium Supply (MS) and Large Supply (LS) industrial category.

Chandigarh – Punjab will soon implement the Clinical Establishment Act to check malpractices in private hospitals, Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said today. Notably, Union Health Minister J P Nadda had last month urged all the states to adopt the Centre’s Clinical Establishment Act in the backdrop of cases of alleged medical negligence and overcharging by some private hospitals.
High time, justice be done in anti-Sikh riot cases: CM

Chandigarh – A day after the Supreme Court’s decision to set up a fresh SIT in the 186 anti-Sikh riot cases, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday said it was high time that justice be provided. He also said that justice continued to elude victims even more than 30 years after the incident. “It is high time that justice be provided in these cases,” the chief minister said here, welcoming the court’s decision to constitute a fresh Special Investigation Team (SIT) to monitor the probe.
