Nod to ₹580 -crore debt waiver to 1 lakh farmers in next phase

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government cleared an amount of Rs 580 crore to give debt waiver to another 1.15 lakh farmers in the state, in the second phase of its four-phase scheme, on Wednesday. The money will be disbursed before January 31, according to the a decision taken at a highlevel meeting chaired by chief minister Captain Captain Amarinder Singh.

Punjab Government launched the Ujala awareness campaign today to promote energy efficiency measures in the State. Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh would flag off 16 Ujala vans as part of this awareness campaign from VIP guest house, PSTCL in SAS Nagar after addressing a function to mark this occasion, said an official spokesman of Punjab Government.

Chandigarh – The Punjab government on Wednesday cleared 1.15 lakh more cases of loan waiver of farmers amounting to Rs 580 crore, an official spokesperson said. The amount will be disbursed before January 31. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh reviewed the progress in implementing the farm debt waiver scheme he had launched in Mansa district on Sunday during a meeting with officials and ministers, including Finance Minister Manpreet Badal.
