CM counters Badal’s charges on law and Order. Chandigarh – Rejecting his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal’s charge that Punjab was slipping into anarchy, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said on Wednesday that law and order in the state had improved as compared to the situation in the previous 10 years. Challenging the 90-year old five-time former CM to prove his allegations, Amarinder Singh claimed there was a marked decline in major incidents of crime since the Congress government took over in March this year.

Chandigarh – Punjab’s Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira was on Wednesday summoned by a court in Fazilka town in connection with a drugs case, leading to a war of words between his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the ruling Congress. Khaira’s name had come up in a heroin Smuggling case after the arrest of some drugs smugglers by police in Fazilka in 2015.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday said AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira had lost the moral ground to continue as Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha following the summons issued by a Fazilka court against him in a drugs case. Asking Khaira to step down immediately, Jakhar said the serious charges against the AAP leader called for his immediate ouster from all political and statutory posts, Saying the Punjab political system under Captain Amarinder Singh had no place for such criminals.
