Chandigarh : Punjab Cabinet on Saturday resolved that all decisions taken by the previous government in the last six months would be reviewed by the administrative departments, whose reports would be submitted by the Chief Secretary in the next meeting of the council of ministers. Launching a fresh move of administrative reforms to wipe out corruption and Inspector Raj from the state, the Cabinet also decided to abolish the post of District Transport Officers, while also initiating steps to do away with the controversial Halqa In-charge system.

Chandigarh : The first session of the 15th Vidhan Sabha of Punjab will be summoned at 2 pm on March 24. This was decided here on Saturday at the first meeting of the state Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The Cabinet also authorised the Chief Minister to approve the Governor’s address for the first session.

Chandigarh : In a decision for the betterment of fair sex, the Punjab Cabinet on Saturday decided to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in all Government jobs. The reservation quota would also apply to contractual appointments of women in government jobs across the state, as learnt. The Cabinet also decided to increase the representation of women in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) from the present 33 per cent to 50 per cent.

Chandigarh : After taking over Punjab’s reins, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led government in its first Cabinet meeting on Saturday adopted the Punjab Congress manifesto as its work programme for the next five years. The Cabinet also took more than 100 decisions, which included the constitution of Special Task Force to eliminate drug mafias and corruption.
