Chandigarh : The Punjab government on Monday decided to reduce petrol prices by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Re 1 from midnight.This is after the state revised the VAT rationalisation announced in the Budget.

RAULI (RUPNAGAR): Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh met parents of slain CRPF constable, Kulwinder Singh, at their home in Rauli village, about 30km from district headquarters, near Nurpur Bedi on Sunday. He expressed his grief and condolences, and extended his government’s full support to Kulwinder’s father, Darshan Singh, and mother Amarjit Kaur. He also announced a lifetime special monthly pension of ₹10,000 per month to either or surviving parents since they had no other children. Kulwinder had not married.
Rahul ends high command culture, state panel meets to discuss names

CHANDIGARH: Doing away with the high command culture in ticket allotment, the state election committee of the Congress on Sunday met to get feedback on candidates for the 13 Lok Sabha seats from Punjab and send them to party president Rahul Gandhi for final selection. A total of 180 applications have been received for 13 seats, which will be shortlisted later. The next meeting is on February 20.
