Chandigarh : Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday enhanced the allocation of funds to the state government’s farm loan debt waiver to Rs 5,500 crores, while chairing the 45th meeting of the state Rural Development Board. The earlier amount was Rs 4,500 crore.

CHANDIGARH: Justice Ranjit Singh (retd), who headed the commission of inquiry on sacrilege cases, has filed a criminal complaint in the Punjab and Haryana high court against former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and former Akali minister Bikram Majithia for bringing “disrepute” to the panel and a former HC judge.

Crop damage relief soon, says Sarkaria

Chandigarh: State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria has said compensation regarding crop damage due to hailstorm in some parts of the state in the last few days would be disbursed soon. In a press statement issued here, he said crops of some farmers had got damaged during the recent hailstorm. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had issued orders to all Deputy Commissioners to conduct a "girdawari", Sarkaria added. He said compensation to farmers would be released immediately on the receipt of full report.
