Amritsar : A delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today filed a clemency petition with President Pranab Mukherjee, seeking pardon for Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar whose plea to commute his death sentence was recently turned down by the Supreme Court.

Khanna : Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, who visited the local grain market today, criticised the "poor arrangements" for wheat procurement. He said although the Centre had allocated the required funds for smooth procurement, the state government and the administration had failed to make proper arrangements. Farmers and commission agents were waiting payment for the past several days.
