CM orders energy audit of all govt buildings and institutions

Chandigarh – The Punjab State Council of Science and Technology (PSCST) was on Monday asked to undertake an energy audit of all government buildings and educational institutions in the state to cut down on ‘reckless’ energy consumption and ‘hefty’ expenditure. Orders in this regard were issued by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday while chairing the 13th meeting of the Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC) Society here, an official spokesperson said.

Captain announces 25 lakh grant for development of Sikh Regiment Centre

Chandigarh – Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday announced a special grant of Rs 25 lakh for the development and upgrade of the Sikh Regiment Centre (SRC) at Chandimandir. The chief minister made the announcement during the Baisakhi Lunch 2018, hosted by the Sikh Regiment at the Khetarpal Officers’ Institute (KOI) at the Chandimandir Military station, said an official release.

‘28,600 acres of forest land grabbed by the politically influential’

SANGRUR: Punjab’s forest and wildlife minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on Saturday acknowledged the extent of the problem of encroachment over forest land, saying that 28,600 acres remain under illegal possession of “politically influential persons” in the state. This is nearly 5% of the state’s total forest land, 6.37 lakh acres.
