Jalandhar: Linking the shootout in a Gurudwara in Austria in 2009 to the recent attack in a Sikh temple in United States, BSP asked the Centre to probe both the strikes in order to prevent such incidents in the future here, on Tuesday. They also demanded National Investigating Agency (NIA) to be sent in the US.

Batala: The Ardas ceremony, which was recited in the memory of six sikh worshippers who were killed in the shooting tragedy at the gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, was attended by the Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Des Raj Dhugga and local residents in the gurdwara Damdama Sahib at Sri Hargobindpur. Dhugga said, “the US should initiate concrete measures to redress the identity issue of Sikhs as a number of Sikhs were attacked post 9/11 due to mistaken identity.” He expressed gratitude towards Obama administration.

Fatehgarh Sahib: Noted educationist and Director Education of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Gurmohan Singh Walia has been appointed as the officiating Vice Chancellor of the Shri Guru Garanth Sahib World University. In place of him, Khalsa College (Patiala) principal Dharminder Singh Ubha has been given the additional charge of directorate of education.
