Operators of killer buses should lose permit: AAP

CHANDIGARH: Commenting on the unending assault on road users by private bus operators in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAAP) state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said on Friday here that operators should lose their permit if their buses were involved in more than two fatal accidents, and pay minimum of `25 lakh as compensation to the victims’ families.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh has demanded that the entire fleet of buses owned by Akali leaders, including the ruling Badal family, be grounded until the drivers had gone through rigorous tests to check why they were causing so many fatal accidents so frequently.

Chandigarh: Chamkaur Sahib MLA Charanjit Singh Channi assumed the charge of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader at the CLP office here on Thursday. Accompanying him were a battery of other party legislators including Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Navtej Singh Cheema, who also took charge of Deputy CLP leader and the party’s chief whip respectively in the Vidhan Sabha. The trio was recently elevated to the posts after 40 Congress MLAs had on December 7 authorised the party president Sonia Gandhi to name the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader.
