1984 riots cases: Phoolka to sue Harsimrat for defamation

BATHINDA: Reacting to the alleged statement by Union minister for food processing industries and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal in which she had alleged that HS Phoolka did not represent victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in the Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar cases in courts, the noted lawyer on Thursday said he would file a defamation case against her.

Ludhiana : The family of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh on Tuesday strongly opposed the appointment of Jagtar Singh Hawara as the new priest of Akal Takht Sahib by various Sikh organisations gathered at Chabba village near Amritsar under the banner of “Sarbat Khalsa.” The grandson of Beant Singh and Congress Member of Parliament (MP) from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu, while opposing the move of Sikh organisations to appoint Jagtar Singh Hawara as Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, said that his family is in deep pain after the announcement and strongly oppose the move.
