In Moga case, HC issues notice to Sukhbir, his wife

Chandigarh : A month after a 13-year-old Moga girl died after her alleged molesters pushed her off a bus owned by Orbit Aviation, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice of motion to Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Badal on a petition for arraigning them as accused. The couple allegedly owns shares in Orbit Aviation.

CHANDIGARH: The economic offences wing (EOW) of the Chandigarh Police on Tuesday arrested former media adviser to the then finance minister and People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Badal for allegedly duping a Chandigarh-based businessman of `1.5 crore on the pretext of selling him 1 acre of land in SAS Nagar.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday issued a notice to Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, his wife, Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, among others on an application demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Moga bus incident.

Muktsar : The state Congress SC/ST cell has sought a judicial probe into the Muktsar bus molestation case. Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, chairman, Punjab Congress SC/ST cell, who recently met the victim family at their residence at Kotli Sanghar village, said, “We demand a judicial probe into the matter. The police are harassing the poor family. They are being told to give statements again and again. The police are under pressure from the bus owner, who is a senior SAD leader.”
