Khair trees felling: Minister seeks report from Principal Chief Conservator

Chandigarh – The Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister, Punjab, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has taken strong notice regarding the news pertaining to illegal felling of KHAIR trees in villages Chandiyani Kalan, Mangupur, Mahipur, Kukkar Suha, in the forest area of Balachaur in SBS Nagar District. The Minister has sought a comprehensive report from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Jatinder Sharma within 5 days. The Minister said that the PCCF has also been directed to person all probe the incident of illegal felling of trees from the above mentioned region.

Jalandhar – In a major development catering to the interest of NRIs across the globe, Punjab government has in-principle given the green signal for conducting the next NRI Sabha Punjab elections in the state. NRI Sabha, an NGO registered with the Punjab government was a platform for the expatriate community abroad to get their grievances related to property, matrimony and fraud cases addressed besides making them part of economic growth back home. The post of NRI Sabha Punjab president was lying vacant for the last over three years, after the former president Jasvir Singh Gill left the office in January 2015.

CM flexes his muscles, to finalise names of Mayors. The task of finalising the names of Mayors in three Corporations has landed in the lap of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, as the CM has taken it upon himself to set the ball in motion. Elected councillors of Congress had suggested MLAs of concerned areas to finalise the name of Mayor, who further forwarded it to the concerned minister and the minister forwarded the list to CM. However, in this chain, the name of state Congress president was missing.
