AMRITSAR: A day after being fielded as the Congress candidate for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, state party chief Sunil Jakhar on Thursday said his win will lay foundation of the party in the 2019 general elections. He also said the bypoll will be a “referendum” on the Modi government.

Chandigarh : The BJP on Thursday declared businessman Swarn Singh Salariya as its candidate for Gurdaspur by-election to be held on October 11. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already named Major General (Retd) Suresh Khajuria as its candidate while the Congress on Wednesday announced that its state president Sunil Jakhar would contest the election.
