Capt dares PM to act against RSS men in anti-Sikh riots

New Delhi : Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act against the RSS men facing cases in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and asked what was preventing him from delivering justice in the matter. Appearing for the first time in any Congress agitation since the party lost power at the Centre in May 2014, Amarinder today walked alongside party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest prevailing intolerance in society.

ROHTAK: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday condemned Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal’s statement that the Haryana government had no control over its state in the past 11 years, which include the oneyear rule of BJP government. Khattar advised Punjab deputy CM to focus on the development of Punjab instead of Haryana.

Abohar : The state government failed to provide work to MGNREGA job card holders in 6,538 of 13,056 villages for even a single day. As many as 11,15,192 cards were issued by the end of last financial year but most of them were denied job allegedly owing to political considerations.

LUDHIANA: Eventually, after the interference of the local court, the police officials have accepted the bail pleas of Independent MLAs Balwinder Singh Bains, Simarjit Singh Bains and their 27 supporters on Monday. The additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP Headquarters) Sukhpal Singh Khaira has accepted the bail bonds and issued orders to release them.
