CHANDIGARH/FATEHGARH SAHIB: Taking a cue from the suicide by debt-ridden Fatehgarh Sahib farmer Surjit Singh, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday demanded that the Narendra Modi government waive the debt of Punjab’s farmers. Bajwa also asked Modi to “concentrate on providing succour to the beleaguered farmers rather than focusing on anti-farmer land legislation”.

PATIALA: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member of Parliament (MP) from Patiala, Dharamvir Gandhi, condemned the arrest of Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, who has been accused of submitting a forged law degree at a time of the assembly elections earlier this year. Tomar has been booked for cheating, forgery, forgery with purpose of cheating and conspiracy under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
