Chandigarh – The Punjab government would provide debt relief to the tune of Rs 200 crore to around 50,000 beneficiaries in six districts in the next phase, a spokesman said today. The state government has also assured that eligible farmers under this scheme would get debt relief and no eligible farmer to be left out, he said.

Chandigarh – Punjab government has allocated Rs 4,250 crore for debt waiver scheme in the proposed Budget for 2018-19. Earlier, the state government had kept a reserve of Rs 1,500 crore for this scheme. While talking to reporters, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that only Rs 370 crore could be disbursed to 71,166 farmers in 201718, as the formalities could not be completed. He said although in the budget proposal Rs 4,250 crore has been kept for the purpose, but the amount can be enhanced as may be necessary to fulfil the commitments in debt relief.

Chandigarh – The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, on Saturday paved the way for easing of building rules to give a further boost to the construction industry, while facilitating better urban planning and development in the state. The Cabinet stamped its approval on the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Rules-2018, providing for Purchasable Unlimited Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for Group Housing, Commercial, Public Office, Hotel and Industrial Buildings, while increasing Permissible FAR for residential plotted development and Educational buildings.
