Chandigarh(DP Correspondent): In the last day of Punjab Budget Session, nearly 12 bills have been passed in the house. The most important bill was to impose a sum of Rs 200 as development tax on tax payers. Besides it, a bill of amendments in the Salaries and allowances of state ministers, leader of Opposition, Punjab Police amendments bill, Transparency and answerable in Public Services amendments bill Regularisation of Colonies, Road and bridges bill, Social Security bill were the bills, , which had been passed in the absence of Akali Dal-BJP.

Chandigarh – The people of Punjab should may now have to bear the burden of five more taxes which are likely to be imposed on them any time now. The Assembly, while giving all rights, has authorised the Chief Minister to impose taxes amid the passing of Social Security Act Bil- 2018. It will be up to him to impose such taxes whenever he wants.

Chandigarh – State Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal told the state assembly here on Monday that all outstanding arrears of sugarcane growers had been cleared, a fact strongly contested by main opposition AAP’s senior leader Kanwar Sandhu. Sandhu gave a notice of privilege against the minister for allegedly committing contempt of the House.

Ludhiana : Four-time councillor Balkar Singh, 63, was on Monday elected new mayor of Ludhiana. Shyam Sunder Malhotra has been elected senior deputy mayor while Saravjit Kaur is deputy mayor.
