Chandigarh : While announcing that the Punjab government will set up two high-level committees, one to resolve issues relating to acquisition of land for setting up military facilities in the state and the other to address infrastructural and garbage dumping problems around the Chandigarh Air Force Station, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also called for a review of provisions governing constructions around sensitive military installations.

To bring in greater efficiencies in the functioning of the Finance Department, the Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval in principle to reclassify and restructure the Department in the form of Directorates, while also approving bifurcation of the Excise and Taxation Commissionerates.
Amarinder writes to Defence Ministry, seeks LCV unit

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has written to the Defence Ministry to set up a light combat vehicles (LCVs) manufacturing unit in the state, with the assurance that his government would extendall support, including land allocation, for such a project. In a letter to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Singh said the LCVs unit will not only go a long way in promoting the establishment of ancillary units but also help in providing jobs to the unemployed youth in the state.
