Chandigarh : The Punjab Government stands to lose Rs 1,000 crore in its central devolution, with the Union Government reducing the basic excise duty on petroleum products by Rs 2 per litre. This would mean that the state’s share in the 42 per cent central tax devolution would decrease.

Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga) : The Punjab has to suffer approximately Rs 1000 crore loss with the new policy of Central Government in Union budget. The excise duty on Petrol and Diesel has been proposed to reduce on micro level, which is not meant to be relief for common man, but it will directly impact on the share of states in excise duty. But with new policy, there will be increase in special and additional excise duty, which lead to increase in the Centre’s share in taxes.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh today announced the date for Ludhiana local bodies elections. Elections to be conducted on February 24 and results will be announced on February 26. The nomination filing process with regard to these elections would commence on 8th February, 2018 and last till 13th February, 2018. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also revealed that Punjab Cabinet will also be extended after February 26.
