Punjab govt need to take action against fake degrees business

Chandigarh – The Punjab Government has initiated the process to take action against those employees who have got jobs or promotions on the basis of fake degrees. Besides the Health Department, the Local Bodies Government Department, after receiving complaints, has also issued orders for checking the degrees of all employees. If sources are to be believed, there are more than one lakh people in Punjab who have purchased’ degrees from unauthorised and outside universities and more than half among them are those who obtained degrees for promotion or to get job in the government. Purchase of degrees from some private universities by pesticides dealers to renew their licences of their business is another issue of investigation.

Chandigarh – Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed to the state’s farmers to shun the path of agitation, saying his government could not afford to waive off any more of their debts at the present juncture, but was committed to alleviating all their woes at the earliest. Despite the severe financial crunch faced by the state government, Punjab had waived off more debts of its farmers than the other states, the Chief Minister pointed out, urging the protesting farmers to appreciate the government’s efforts.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister (CM) Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday reiterated his government’s commitment to providing a level playing field to all stakeholders in the state’s transport sector and said that the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has reported an operating profit of ₹9.21 crore between April 2017 and December 2017.
