PATIALA: Punjab’s health minister Brahm Mohindra has written to SAD and BJP parliamentarians from the state to oppose the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill proposed in Parliament by the BJP-led NDA government. Mohindra wrote a similar letter to Congress parliamentarians from the state, who are already toeing the party line to oppose the bill.

New Delhi, February 7 : – Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi to discuss the reorganisation of the Punjab unit of the party ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar and AICC in-charge of Punjab affairs, Asha Kumari. The discussion centered around revamping of the PPCC organisational structure in order to strengthen the Punjab unit of the party and prepare it better for next year’s parliamentary elections, a party’s spokesperson disclosed after the meeting.

Controversial Mohali land deal: After the leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Sukhpal Singh Khaira on demanded an inquiry into his land purchase, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday came up with a detailed clarification, with also questioning if the Chief Minister was not allowed to purchase any land. Rejecting any violation of the rules or conflict of interest in his Mohali land deal, accusing the opposition of unnecessarily creating a controversy to promote their vested political interests, Amarinder also termed it a baseless allegation of conflict of interest levelled upon him.
