The Patiala city gets its new Mayor on Tuesday. Sanjeev Bittu of Congress from ward number 42 has been elected unopposed by the concerned authorities. He has been declared the Mayor of the city during the oath taking ceremony in Jalandhar. Meanwhile, Yoginder Singh Yogi elected as Senior Deputy Mayor (Urban Sikh) and Vinti Sangar, a woman candidate from SC quota has been elected as woman Mayor.

The religious city of Punjab, Amritsar get its new Mayor on Tuesday. Karamjeet Singh of Congress has been elected as the new Mayor of Amritsar. Congress candidate from Amritsar (North) Karamjit Singh Rintu was the front-runner for the post of Mayor. Others in the fray were leader of opposition in the previous House Rajkanwal Preet Singh Lucky; Congress’ state woman president Mamata Dutta; Damandeep Singh and Raman Bakhshi.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday sought personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the ministry of agriculture for initiating major steps to boost dairy sector across the state in general and supplement the income of dairy farmers in particular.

Ludhiana – Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa who is also observer of Congress Party for MC elections said that the local MLAs and congress presidents would be consulted during the distribution of the tickets in upcoming Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Elections. He said the committee will scrutinize the application forms and tickets will be allocated on merit. Bajwa was talking to media after attending the state level function on the 203rd birth anniversary of Satguru Ram Singh Ji was held at Bhaini Sahib on Monday.
