Chandigarh – Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday sought personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the Ministry of Agriculture for initiating major steps to boost dairy sector across the state in general and supplement the income of dairy farmers in particular. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh demanded one time subsidy on the stocks of Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) at the rate of Rs 50 per kg and White Butter at the rate of Rs 25 per kg as on March 31, this year.

Channi conducts surprise check at institutes. State Technical Education minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday conducted surprise check at two institutes, namely Government Polytechnic College Ranwan (Khamano) and ITI, Bassi Pathana. During checking at Ranwan Polytechnic College, the minister suspended the absent superintendent, Baljeet Kaur, who had been absent for the last several days. Harjinder Singh, the college principal, was also issued a show cause notice for failing to act against the superintendent.

HOSHIARPUR : The state finance department has approved the proposal of the health department to pay full salary to newly recruited medical officers instead of just basic pay to overcome the shortage of doctors in government health institutions. This was disclosed by state finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal at the annual conference of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) here.
