United Sikhs’ team in Philippines to help typhoon victims

Sacramento : USA-based association United Sikhs has sent a relief team to the Philippines to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The team is led by Rishiwant Singh and Kiran Singh. The first batch of goods and supplies has filled the United Sikhs’ stock room in Khalsa Diwan Sikh Gurdwara, Manila.

Kapurthala : Taking suo motu cognisance of the matter pertaining to Kapurthala resident Paramjit Singh, who had committed suicide in US in October, the Punjab State Commission for NRIs, Chandigarh, has asked the Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to look into the matter and submit a report on or before January 9, 2014. Orders to this effect have been issued by the commission chairperson Justice Arvind Kumar (retd) and member S Chattopadhyaya (retd ADGP) today.
